Review: I like having a back up since my Pfaff is getting old and the buttonholes are terrible. I didn't want to pay over $1000 like I did for my Pfaff. After researching like crazy at machines, I knew I didn't want another Pfaff and I think Singer has really gone down hill, Vikings are over priced. I have no desire or use for a machine with a lot of bells and whistles on it and a big price tag for options that I will never use. After taking my Pfaff to a repair guy that happened to be a Janome dealer, I looked at his Janome's and really liked the 3160QDC. He has sold over 200 to the local school's Home Ec dept. with good success so I thought I'd take a chance even after reading a lot of reviews with "maybes."
What I love about this machine:
The thread cutter....I love this!
Program #2 which backstitches at the beginning
Makes great buttonholes to the size of your button
Quiet and smooth running
Comes with quite a few feet but especially like the 1/4 inch foot
Troubleshooting: I don't think I would say that I don't like this about the machine but when winding the bobbin it is not as quiet as my Pfaff and my Kenmore but not really an issue.
I had no problems with the bobbin jamming or not winding evenly.
I've read in some reviews that people didn't like the light. It's has kind of a blue tint to it. I have plenty of other lights in my sewing room so I'm okay with the light.
