I love the price of this machine, and now that I have it dialed in I love it. I've been using it almost everyday since getting it.
I still need to learn how to do a rolled hem. Threading was pretty easy in my opinion, but I consider myself pretty technically inclined. All the threading is color coded, and there is a diagram and sequence on the inside under the cover.
I used a video tutorial off of youtube to figure out what my machine needed to be at tension-wise. Once I discovered that video it made sense which way and which knob to turn when my stitches were not looking right. I have my 'serger tension map' now.
right off the bat I thought it was broken (major bummer because I bought it private party!), the green thread (right hand needle) would not stay threaded. I tried several times to fix it. re-threading the machine over and over thinking I had done it wrong.
(yay fun right!?! I am REALLY good at threading my machine now haha)
I checked the tension on each thread..the green had ZERO tension, no matter how high I turned the dial.....until I watched the video I mentioned before. My newb self took the 'lay in' threading literally. At the recommendation of the lady on the video I grasped the thread before the tension disc and after, then I moved it back and forth to seat the thread down between the discs..... FIXED IT!!! my machine works perfectly now.
so if you are having any tension troubles, make sure each thread it totally seated in the discs.
