This is a rock solid, workhorse of a serger. I got it because I did not want separate coverstitch and serger functions. Other reviews were good and I had Juki machines before and liked them.
Another reviewer has mentioned the necessity of downloading the TRAINING manuals for Juki technicians and to learn this machine this is an absolute must. I could not figure out the threading from the very poor manuals included with the machine. That said, the machine itself is wonderful. I have had Janome sergers before (634D and 9102) and neither of them came close in stitch quality, speed and ease of threading to the Juki. I LOVE the snap down looper threading, and the best thing? on the machine brush there is a little eye like the eye of a needle and you actually load a needle in it to manuever it into the needle slot when you add the needle. Amazing, no brainer, simple inclusion that makes a WORLD of difference in changing thread paths, converting from 2 needle to 3 needle operations and removing needles without dropping them.
I have made a set of napkins for a quilted placemat set with rolled hems, a suit, using the 5 thread safety stitch, and ten baby blankets for charity. Awesome awesome machine.

The manuals.

Yeah, I love mine too. I didn't know there was an online training manual. Will have to look for it.

I was also disappointed with the included manual and had to download the threading instrctns via We have bonded in the last several years now. Also purchased the 8 extra feet, and have surprised myself how often they are used especially the elastic and piping feet...and they are quick snap to change.

Nice to see someone posting a review after giving their machine a good test run of more than a week. Manuals are not that great for most machines, but check the Juki website to see if there are any video tutorials, or since Juki makes BabyLock, perhaps their video tutorials will be helpful.

I purchased this serger several weeks ago, haven't had a chance to give it a big job yet, but am impressed with the results of several small trial runs. Had the same issue with the poor manuals, but have found several very helpful resources. First one is the threading chart on Allbrands site. The illustrations are large, which I have found to be priceless. Second, there is a training manual on Sewing Machines Plus website, and if you check out the Juki MO-734, you will find a training manual for the overlock function. The two machines are basically the same except the 734 does not have coverlock or chain stitch. In addition to these resources, I found the Bernina 1300 videos on Youtube, and its manual on the Bernina website to be very helpful. Juki makes that machine, and it and the 735 are very much alike. The Juki just doesn't have some extra features that the Bernina has.

Hi: Thanks for your review. Did you get a chance to look at the new Juki MO 1000 with jet air threading? Not sure worth the extra $$. I feel I can do without a coverstitch. I do well with a double needle and stretch seam tape.

I have spoken to someone who demo'd the Juki MO-1000 (air threading) and they claim it is wonderful and even successfully loads thicker threads successfully with the air threading through loopers that don't load through BL's. No clear foot available for it though. Am really mentally stuck between 735, 1000 and BL Enlighten. If I thought threading for the 735 was easy for cover and for serging... I would probably already be finished with my obsessive analysis...
