This machine has a good variety of stitches for dressmaking. The automatic button holes are so helpful! I find it very easy to use even though this is a big step up from my previous beginner level mechanical machine. It copes with all thicknesses of fabrics and does not try to "eat" softer fabrics which my old machine used to consume.
The Elna 520 is good looking - perhaps a strange observation, but I find many machines unattractive. It is ergonomically designed and just has a good feel to use.
There is no proper storage for feet etc. It is noisier than I thought it would be and, when the bobbin is not full, I am aware of it jumping around.
