Hope everyone doesn't mind yet another review on this.

Some background: I have two other sergers - a Bernina 1000D and 1300MDC. They have served me very well. Upon aquiring a lake hour in Pennsylvania that had a former guest room I could claim as a sewing room I decided to move the 1100D there. The 1300MDC is now my cover and backup at my Virginia house as "Quasi" the Enlighten serger has moved in! That name is because he looks like he has a hunch back.

I chose the Enlighten because I didn't need the cover capability as I have it on my 1300MDC and the big foot on the Evolution put me off. The Ovation was just too big and frankly too expensive!

I will say this serger rocks! The light is incredible, very bright led. The threading is a total breeze, literally, and once I found how the needle threader worked threading needles is very easy! The trick is to make sure you have the hand wheel in the correct place. I'm going to mark mine so I know where to line it up.

This machine can take any kind of fabric and adjust for it. The fact there are no tension adjustments kind of worried me initially but no reason the worry now! Serging and rolled hem are perfect and very easy to set. It does all the stitches my other sergers do but it does a very superior blanket stitch and the wave stitch is just plain cool. Also it can put piping and beading on very easily and the gathering attachment is simple to use. Who knew a serger could do this much?

I found a scrap catcher from Amazon works very well and I found a foot set on ebay very reasonably. My dealer gave me the 24 month free financing, unlimited guide classes and the Gold Standard warrenty so I think I got a pretty good deal. Also they gave 15% off the clear foot and Inspirational guide. And I will say the guide classes were stellar! Basically two four hour classes. I felt very confident after the classes.

I can't think of a thing! So far I'm totally thrilled with this serger and I'm sure I will be for many years to come!

Nice review. I'm glad you got this model, I've heard nothing but raves from other owners.

Sounds like a great machine! Super review-always valuable to have recent reviews incl. price, even on popular models.

Great review, I also have the Enlighten and love it, my question is; how are you attaching piping and beading I've looked for a piping foot and couldn't find one?

I got one with a package of six feet on Ebay. If you put in Babylock Enlighten there will be quite a few feet packages that show up

Great review. You got this at a good price, too. It has lots of nice features, and I almost went with this model, but since I'm trading in my Viking 936 with the cover stitch, I went with the Enlighten. Sounds like your machine does every single thing you need it to do. Hope you have many happy hours of sewing with it.

Babylock servers rock. I got the Ovation because I got a deal too good to pass up. You will love this serger. I hope to try a quilt with my serger. It is a quilt similar to jelly roll and will see heavy use. Anyone down this on the serger email me any tips.

Good review! I'm actually considering this serger instead of the new Bernina sergers to be released in 2014. I just need to find a good dealer.
