Review:
Since I have upgraded from a three dial WalMart Brother machine, I love everything about it! Here are my top fascinations with it (in no particular order):

*it is computerized
*you cannot insert the bobbin wrong, no matter how hard you try
*the stitches...oh, the stitches! What does one do with that many stitches?
*you don't have to unthread it to wind a bobbin
*did I mention computerized?
*at first I didn't care about the sewing advisor feature, but now I kinda like it
*it is pretty (oddly very important to me)
*the "fix" feature that tacks the thread instead of backstitching
*I didn't think I would use the start/stop button for sewing with out the foot pedal. I do. I don't use it often, but when I have a long straight stitch to do, it is pretty handy
*it has a lot of features for the price

Troubleshooting:
*it is loud. I wasn't expecting it to be that loud. And I tried it out in the store but I guess the din of the store masked the noise of the machine. It doesn't rattle the windows, but for an advanced machine I expected it to be a little quieter. (Remember, I had an old Brother...it is like upgrading from dial up AOL to high speed Chrome or Safari).
*I want it to have a clock. I am used to all my screens having clocks. Ok, I realize that isn't a real thing but I kept checking it for the time. It gives me everything else on that little screen!

Vikings traditionally make a very solid and serious noise when they sew. ;) Sounds like yours is truly a Viking! :) High pitched sort of sound as well. Thanks for the nice review and yes, pretty is VERY important to me as well in a machine - or at least what appeals to my eye. And your machine is lovely.

Congratulations! I have the 670 in my little group and absolutely love it. Viking has been good to me (also have an old Viking 190 Selectronic - talk about a workhorse). I am sure you will have many years of sewing bliss. The 650 really is a very pretty machine and so nice that it has so many great features. Enjoy!

I saw these at me dealer's last week, and they are so visually appealing. Kind of like a pretty right hand ring. So glad you are enjoying it. You might try putting one of those waffle rubber mats underneath to see it that makes it any quieter. But maybe that's something Viking needs to address in their engineering department.
