Refashion Contest Winners

Refashioning, reconstructing, recycling or upcycling -- whatever you call it, this was the contest for it.

The objective of this contest was take an item or items and create a new and different garment. What does that mean? You couldn't shorten a wedding gown to make a cocktail dress, but you could cut and re-sew the skirt into a top!

Our 32 green participants had a blast with this one! You'll agree when you check out the gallery.

Amy-may used "Sex in the City" as her inspiration in this highly modified version of Simplicity 2774.

Her starting point was a size 4X skirt from the clearance rack at Walmart that she bought for $5. She loved the print.

After much deliberation over how to squeeze the pattern into her yardage, she ignored the grainlines to make it work.

The actual sewing took only a couple of hours...it was the preplanning that took the most time!
