Tip 319: Reinforcing Patterns for DurabilityBy DianeSev on 6/25/12 12:46 PM

When I find a pattern that I really like and want to use over and over again, I trace it onto a piece of poster board, use a paper punch to punch a hole in it, and set a grommet into the hole. Then I can hang it on a cup hook on the wall for easy access.

The stiff cardboard makes it easy to weight and cut out with a rotary cutter, the grommet keeps the hole from tearing, and I can just lift down my favorite patterns instead of having to unfold (and maybe even iron) them.

I have used freezer paper and also drawing paper on a roll. It is traced, cut out and print pattern number, piece alpha and its purpose (leg, arm etc. it's obvious at the moment, but might not be a year from now). Then I hang the pattern, instructions and all, on a kids' pant hanger in my spare closet.
