Not a full size cape but not a jacket either, this Woodland Stroll Cape was inspired by a vintage cape that Liesl Gibson admires.  She says it's a quick and easy garment to sew and highlights a piece of wool or velveteen beautifully.  Its shape eliminates a lot of difficult fitting issues.

Liesl made it for herself in two fabrics: a wool plaid to wear with jeans for running errands on the weekends and a dark and serious fabric for business attire.  It's very versatile!  You can even dress it up for evening wear.  Surprise everyone with a flashy lining! Liesl says "Bemberg rayon is ideal because it’s easy to work with and it allows the cape to flow over the garment worn underneath."

Suggested Fabrics: 

CAPE: Wool coating, wool melton, velveteen (cotton velvet), moleskin, or corduroy.  LINING: Rayon, acetate, polyester, China silk, or cotton lawn. (Note: slippery linings work well for this pattern.)

Here's a pint-sized version of the adult cape, and so cute too!  It's fully lined and with snaps or buttons at the sides and the front, it's an easy piece for youngsters to put on and take off. 

Think of all the great fabrics you can sew this up with! Sew matching child and adult capes for that special outing!

The construction method is the same as for the adult cape.
