Kjavas (Carolyn Baker) Category: cotton

This skirt is made out of 100% cotton. It was created for a forest themed elven costume that I made for an event called Faerieworlds. I used view C on the Simplicity 2449 pattern as my base pattern and then altered it to match my desired outcome. I shortened the skirt length but kept the gussets the same length and started them near the top of the skirt instead of along the bottom. I also sewed vein lines in brown thread along the green gussets to make them appear more like leaves. I finished the bottom of the skirt with a serged rolled edge in brown thread to add more definition to the edges of the gusset. The waistband was made wider in order to insert grommets on either side to create a lace up waistband instead of an elastic one.
