||Colette Patterns:Peony (Dresses)
||Pattern Description: This elegant bateau neck sheath dress is simple to sew, with added interest from a fully removable cummerbund style belt which can be made in a matching or contrasting fabric, closing with a single button in back. Version 1 has 3/4 length sleeves, a contrasting belt, and in seam pockets. Version 2 has short sleeves, a matching belt, and no pockets.
Pattern Sizing: 0-18
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Of course! I can always depend on Colette pattern to turn out like the pictures.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy. This would be a great pattern for a beginner to try a zipper or for a veteran to try some new techniques to gussy it up.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love how easy the directions are to follow and the sizing is very true. I am also proud of my French seams which turned out fantastic. This was a great dress to experiment on.
Fabric Used: Cotton Twill I got for a steal at Joann's.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I lengthened the top back darts. I let out the front bodice waistline darts. I made a horizontal dart on the back bodice piece on my pattern to take out a baggie part along the zipper.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely. It is a fun and easy to wear dress. I get compliments whenever I wear a Peony. I have at least a couple more of these of my sleeve.
Conclusion: Make a Peony. I love how great and flattering it looks on everyone who has made it. The dress is also easy to wear to work or out on the town without people asking if you made it! To see more please visit my blog.
