Usual Alterations: Petite lines in the waist on tops an jackets and petite thru the rise on pants, yet lengthening the pant legs. I always need to redo almost the entire pattern for pants - petite rise, flat back, no hips, and long legs ... hows that for a mess!
A Short Bio: I have been sewing since I was 6 years old. I could never get a pattern to fit right, so I began designing my own clothes; I would lay on a piece of fabric and have my sisters outline my profile with chalk ... I have come a long way since then. I graduated from Illinois State University in 1993 with a BA in Business Organizational Management. For a graduation gift my family bought me a sewing machine and serger, thus I started `abo apparel. My husband rented out a restaurant for an evening, invited everyone we could think of, and I held my first official fashion show. From that point on my business has never stopped growing ... Designing custom couture for so many women of different shapes and sizes has allowed me to gain extensive experience in the fitting process, expert alterations, pattern making, and fashion consultation. I have studied (and probably own) every book and video that teaches couture sewing techniques and pattern fitting, not to mention all the info about which shape looks good in what style, etc. ... I love beautiful fabric and I think your clothing should not only look good, but you should feel phenomenal! I once made a $2,000 suit for a woman that said to me, “This outfit is more comfortable than my pajamas, I could sleep in this!” ... now that's a compliment :) I specialize in couture sewing techniques, hand dying fabrics, beading and custom trims, and much more ... you can follow my "Fashion Friday's and Sewing Saturday's blog"
