The Adjustable Binding Foot was part of the bonus foot package that came with purchasing the Singer Quantum Stylist 9960. It's an unusual foot that is large with 2 different screw set adjustments. There were no written instructions in the manual regarding this foot or it's use and operation.
This foot has a screw set on the back of the foot that allows it to be precisely aligned for stitching. There's also a screw set adjustment to increase the channel to accommodate several sizes of binding. There are marking in the top of the foot denoting. 1/4" 1/2" and 3/4".
The easiest way to describe it is sort of like having another hand to hold the binding/fabric sandwich as your left hand guides the fabric and your right hand holds the binding over the edge of the fabric. The fabric/binding sandwich guides smoothly through the channel inside the foot right to the needle. I set my needle in the left needle position to align perfectly just right off the edge of the binding. I also lengthened my stitch to accommodate all the layers of fabric is my sample.
If you're interested in seeing pictures of this foot, a sample of the finished stitching and a video demo of this foot in action, please click the links.
I found this foot very helpful in holding the binding secure to the fabric for stitching.

Thank you the video review is so much easier to understand than just the print. This can be applied to other machines as well, just make sure your needle is in the right spot.
