What is this notion used for?thread for piecing and quilting
Did you get your money's worth after the purchase?yes, but you do indeed get what you pay for.
Is this notion easily available?yes, can be ordered on line from Connecting Threads Website
Would you recommend it to others?
If you are looking for cheap thread for piecing, basting, or to practice quilting, I would say yes. If your looking for good quality thread for quilting on the other hand, no, you get what you pay for and this is not Aurafil (of course Aurafil is over $10.00 a spool, so no surprise there). I don't know how they get away with calling it long staple Egyptian cotton thread, it is not the same quality as your more expensive long staple threads. I would say it is a step below Coats Star thread. I ordered a ton of this stuff and I do plan to use it for piecing, basting and practice quiltiing, but would not use it to machine quilt - it is too fuzzy, slubby, and thick for fine quilting techniques. |

Ok, wait. I only piece and let someone else do the quilting. So...this is good stuff to piece with?? I normally use Star brand or Gutermann (cotton only). So, what do you think? |

In my opinion, it is fine for piecing. Some people feel that a finer thread, such as Aurafil, helps you to achieve more accurate seam allowances, I for one am not that picky. The biggest advantage of this thread is its price. I believe that shipping and handling at Connecting Threads is free on orders over $50. If a person happened to like the fabric they offer (it too is much more reasonably priced than quilt shop fabric, although I can not vouch for its quality since I have never used it, you could combine an order for fabric, notions, and test out a spool or two before committing to a huge order. I hope this helps. |

I agree wholeheartedly. It also adds lots of lint down in your machine. |

I'm a new embroidery machine owner, hoping to get back into garment sewing and possibly quilting. The whole thread scene has changed while I was away. What are good threads to buy now ( besides Coats & Clark?)? Help. |
