What is this notion used for? This set attaches to your regular vacuum cleaner hose, and it would be used for removing lint and dust from just about wherever it collects. I intend to use it to keep my sewing machines and serger clean.

Did you get your money's worth after the purchase?I bought this mainly out of frustration with the high cost of canned air (air!). At $6 and up a can, that stuff adds up over time. Plus, it doesn't always remove the dust that I can see, especially on my vintage machines that need plenty of oil. I like having the little brush attachment to gently encourage the dust to move.

Is this notion easily available? There are several eBay sellers who offer these. I chose Vacuum Stop, and I was very satisfied with the set and their service.

Would you recommend it to others?I think this will be a handy tool in the sewing room and around the house.

nancy2001 8/29/09 I think this is an essential item for everyone who owns a sewing machine.

Linda Mae 8/29/09 I've had a set of these for a few years now and love how much lint it removes when the small brush you get with your machines won't. I also purchased a small 1 gal shop vac (Ace Hdwre) to use and store under my sew table. A good combination to use on machines and computer. The tool set can also be purchased at Harbor Freight where I've seen them. I was told not to use canned air on machines and that's why I got this setup.

Mufffet 8/29/09 There are several of these sets. One has a universal adapter, and I LOVE mine. This is so much better than canned air because it doesn't push any sediment or detritus back into your sewing machine, PC or whatever you use it for. When I get it out for my sewing machines I also do the PC and the keyboard. Thanks for the review! BTW - I saw these at Ace Hardware last week, and I bought mine from Nancy's Notions.

penelopekc 8/30/09 I agree with Muffet and others about canned air -- Once some kind of liquid was expelled from a can purchased from an office supply store! Thanks for this reminder -- Will look into getting one of these for the sewing room and home office.

Deepika 8/30/09 I have this set too. Got it as a gift, but I've never used it. Time to dig it out. Thanks for the review.

Joanne77 9/1/09 I have one of these and used it when I had a vacuum with a hose that could be detached from the power head. Now I have an upright vac which does not have that capability. I have no room for a shop vac, small or large, so no longer use my mini vac set. Sitting here looking at my very dusty (and cat-hair) filled computer keyboard I wish I could!
