The bodice pattern is based on Folkwear Patterns' Empire Gown (with major pattern alterations for style); the skirt is based on the process detailed by the Hungarican Chick (of the Oregon Regency Society) on her blog (link below).

A ladies English Regency/French Empire gown, with options for street-length, full-length, or full-length with train. Two sleeve options and two skirt-back fullness options.
Pattern Sizing:
Sm-Lg (14-16); I used the large sized pattern. In ready to wear I'm about a 14.

I've made this pattern many times (and I'm sure will make it again) and been very pleased with it. Unfortunately the only photo I have of me wearing it I've got an overdress on - the saffron color underdress is the folkwear pattern.
I've used thicker fabrics like velvet and very thin sheer fabr
