This book is a lifesaver for a new/beginner serger. The photos are very clear and the book is well organized and written in a "friendly" easy to read (yet informative) style.
It covers everthing from basics, thread, needle etc to defining the various stitches (I found this especially helpful) and when to use what type of stitch.
The book also covers threading (chapter 4) and tension setting (chapter 5) although w/ a Babylock I did not need these so much but I think that they would be very helpful with the less automated brands/models.
This book has a chapter on knits and rolled hems as well as an extensive chapter on Flatlocking with 2-4 stitches. I find myself referring to it again and again. Really helpful for a new sewer/serger and takes the mystery out of it. A very strong recommendation. Great, very clear photos.

I forgot to mention that she shows you what the stitches should look like when they are well-formed and some pictures of what they look like when they are not and what the problem is. I found this very helpful as well.
I just bought my first serger last weekend, and was thinking of buying this book, so a very timely and useful review, thanks! Does it have much information on serging garments, like how to do corners etc?
