I've heard that this was a good book and was interested in checking it out. I happened to be looking for another book at the library and low and behold this book was right in front of my nose. The book is falling apart, so I guess it's been used frequently as a reference.

I found it to be FULL of wonderful illustrations and actual photos of important sewing techniques. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in broadening their sewing skills with couture hand sewing techniques. There is a tremendous amount of work that goes into these garments that is concealed behind the facings and linings. This book shows in wonderful detail these secret stitches that give the garments shape and structure.

The most exciting part for me was page 13. It's a photo of an Arnold Scaasi Bridal Gown from 1991. I recognized it right away because I was Assistant Designer to Eva Forsyth back in 1992-1993. This was when she and Scaasi worked together on many beautiful Bridal Gown Collections. I was very lucky to have spent a year with her learning about the Bridal Industry.

I think everyone would benefit from reading this book and would help them gain an appreciation for all the work that goes into a handmade garment.
