Would you recommend this book as a MUST HAVE?
Yes, I would recommend this book as a great resource for fashion sewing enthusiasts for great couture sewing history, tutorials on hand and machine sewing techniques, draping, patternmaking, embellishments and textile manipulations.
Included at the end of each chapter in this book are profiles of famous designers and projects to do to practice the skills learned in the chapter, making it a great book for a fashion and couture sewing class.
I checked out this book from the library, read it cover to cover, and plan to purchase it someday to add to my own sewing book library. It is a great reference for sewing and patternmaking. I especially like the chapters on draping and corset making. The cost is a little pricey though at $79.65 currently on Amazon, but I think it is worth it as an addition to a sewing reference library.
