An absolutely perfect outfit. It looks wonderful and I'll bet your DH loves it, too. Just like the top - the skirt is much prettier than the pattern envelope illustration. Great job, Deepika!

Deepika, you look marvelous, simply marvelous in that outfit! You are justifiabley pleased with your result! I cannot believe what a short time you have been sewing...you've done a fabulous job of marrying fabric color and hand to pattern to you. Congratulations.

Deepika, this is a wonderful outfit! Instead of a jacket, what about a shawl or wrap in some sort of gauzy fabric like silk chiffon? If you know someone who knits, (or if you do!), a lacy knit wrap would look very nice for evening.

I like the idea of a knit wrap! thanks Diane. My mom knits. What type of a yarn would she use? I will have to buy it here and send it to her. I guess just knit very loosely??

i made one today :>) now i want one out of one of those geometric slinkies over at fabric.com! i took 5 inches off the length of the skirt, so the flounce bottom would stop just below my knee -- looks cute and flirty!

i'm thinking of pegging the skirt down a size for my next one. i'd use the large top part of the skirt, but peg it down to a medium at the bottom of the skirt and put on a medium flounce. i thought it might be more slimming (not that the present version adds to my weight) -- what do you think? good idea or not? thanks!

Karen, I found the skirt pretty fitted. I used size small according to my hip size and it does not have too much ease.

I just completed this skirt (view B) from a very thin cotton lycra.I am tall and love wearing longer style skirts. Since there is not much ease in this skirt, I cut between med and large(I usually make med) and am very happy with the fit. I would love to make the top, but my arms have not seen sunshine since I was 10! I did make KS3036 view C (top with cowl neckline) but the collar seemed overwhelming and I have a long neck.I chose this pattern because it was cheaper than Loes Hinse comparable skirt pattern and knit would give more give because of my longer stride when walking.

Rita, I am also thinking of making the skirt in a longer version. Even though I did make the top but I can't wear it in 'everyday' use because it looks too dressy... and now I can't find this fabric so basically I wear the skirt with a white top. What other color would go with this skirt? Any ideas. Thanks for the kind words Marita, Yes I have learnt a lot and sewing is so much fun!

Probably any colour suits you Deepika, but here are few things to consider:nothing too bright, black and white are too obvious(boring), too bold prints, I should say that something very close to the colour of these garments, a little darker or little lighter and I would wear the lighter part on top, this sounds like advice to a bigger person but I think that a monochromatic colouring is usually the classiest. If you like beige or cafe a lait or some colour in the brown hue might also be good and if you vant to wear somethig totally different in colour, I would make it bottomhalf in longer length.We only have one inch difference in hight and I haven't allways been this big, so this is kind of familiar to me, you really look smashing!

I'm kind of interested in trying this skirt in a woven rayon. Think it would work? I mean, that Loes Hinse swing skirt is similar--I guess I'm wondering if I'd be able to walk if I used the longer version...

Skymom, I am sure it would work in woven also. Also it has side slits in the flounce which I omitted but you can put them in the longer version. I do think that it needs to be one size bigger for wovens cause I found it has very little ease. I am also planning to make this in woven, let me know how it works for you.

Thanks, Deepika. I will keep you posted. I've got a some pretty, semi-sheer georgette that calls out to be a skirt, but I didn't want to do a bias cut as I fear it will stretch all out of whack. This would give me the flirty hem look I want without that problem. WIll need to find a good lining,though, or even a separate slip.

Only one of these in a wardrobe? I have three and can tell you they are perfect for dancing--total freedom of movement. My latest is in a polka-dot rayon/lycra and looks very dramatic doing a tango! :))

Amanda, as a matter of fact, I've cut out the mosaic print to make the burda drape neck top to go with this skirt :) Thanks everyone for such nice comments. This has got to be the most used pattern in my stash!

Another lovely skirt. I'm with edube. I have a half dozen of the LH swing skirt made up, which seems almost identical to this skirt.

Thank you for sharing the information on lining the skirt and then encasing the elastic. I did NOT do this yesterday on a skirt I made--and the waistband is SO bulky. This method sounds SO much better. You look lovely in your skirts. I have decided to buy this pattern. Every best wish to you. Carla
