Pattern Description: Minidress and tunics with sleeve variations.
Pattern Sizing: Junior 5/6 through 25/26. I cut a 15/16+
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, it did but about 10 sizes larger :P
Were the instructions easy to follow? For the most part with the exception of the back neck binding instructions. this is a copy/paste from my blog
"The instructions has you sew the back neck facing from the front. You are supposed to baste the back and front pieces at the shoulder seams then take the back neck facing and place its right side on the front piece's wrong side, which in effect means the facing's right side and the back's right side are facing each other. Lost yet? I was. THEN you sew the facing to the back this way making sure you do not catch the front piece in the stitching, then pivot and sew the shoulder seams. When you turn the facing to the inside the shoulder seams are hidden. Does that make sense? If not, that's exactly what I thought. The instructions were very confusing and did not explain this processes well. It took me a long time to figure out what the heck they were talking about. I have read other people's review of this pattern and no one mentions this so it might just have been me who had trouble understanding."
Once I got over that it was easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the flounce and the sleeves. I like that it's not fitted but because of the drawstring, it has some shape.
Fabric Used: 100% rayon woven from www.fabric.com
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I am very short and i have a short torso so I had to raise the neckline and even then, it's JUST at the right place.
I did not add bust darts but in retrospect I wish I had, hence the "recommend with modifications" rating. More about this on my blog.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I would sew it again and I recommend it.
Conclusion:
Add bust darts! I love the top and i'm happy with the outcome except for the dang bust dart issue.
