Pattern Description: Project Runway pattern for a dress and twist bolero. Just looking at the pattern envelope, it's hard to tell that the bolero is separate from the dress, but it is. I made the bolero.
This is a very straightforward pattern. It's drafted well and it's easy to sew. It's sized a teeny bit on the large side width-wise, but since it has kimono sleeves, all I had to do was sew a slightly larger seam where it was a little too loose for me. Lengthwise, I made no adjustments.
I used the tank top from my TNT McCalls 5536 for the cami part of this twinset. This is a review of the bolero only.
Pattern Sizing: 6-22. I used the 6-14.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, exactly!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very much so!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
There is nothing to dislike here. I love the twist design and think it looks great on this bolero! Just love it!
Fabric Used: Lavender knit.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I am petite and usually make petite adjustments, but I didn't for this pattern. It was a little bigger than I thought it would be, but I simply sewed a larger seam where it needed to be smaller. I was able to do it this way because the sleeves are cut as one with the bodice.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I will definitely be sewing this again and I'd recommend this to others who like this style! It's a simple pattern that is very easy to sew.
Conclusion: I love twinsets and this twist bolero is perfect as part of a fun and unique twinset!
