| Pattern Description: Feliz is a dress, tunic or skirt with a large area available for embellishment. Feliz can be elegant, simple, fancy or festive.
Pattern Sizing:This pattern is available from size 18 months to 9/10 (US sizing) or 86-140 (European sizing)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, with a Halloween twist! Were the instructions easy to follow?Well, the directions that come with the pattern are very brief. However, there are online tutorials that are excellent which are available here Trillium Sew-a-long, here Stunt Sewing Tip, and Click Here What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? No dislikes. It is a pattern that allows for a lot of creative opportunities.
Fabric Used: I used cotton from Hobby Lobby and other cottons that have been in my stash for a long time.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I was inspired to make a Halloween witch dress from this blogJinjur Blog . However, I really think I put my own spin on the dress. I added ric rac to both the bodice and straps. I also added some decorative stitching to the bodice. Flickr Link I put 3 rows of ruffles down the backClick Here and ruffles to both the overdress and the bottom of the underdress. Click Here I attached the sashing to elastic before sewing the ruffles into the overdress seam.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Conclusion: I really like this pattern! I think it accomodates all body shapes. There are a lot of pieces to trace and cut out, but the result is so worth it. I sewed a matching hat too! Click Here This is also a fairly warm dress, especially when paired with a long sleeve shirt. For Christmas (we have COLD winters), I didn't hesitate to have my daughters wear this dress with a long sleeve shirt and heavy tights. For Halloween, I also sewed matching leggings hoping that this will keep her legs warm. Click Here

Your daughter looks adorable in it. | | * * * | | Sandi S | 11/1/09 | really cute - I love, love, love this pattern - have yet to see a version that wasn't cute and this is certainly no exception! | | * * * | | AuntieShel | 11/1/09 | This is so wonderful, looking at all these beautiful costumes this morning. None like this came by my house last night!! | | * * * | | colorkitten | 11/3/09 | Ha, I was about to post that I used the feliz pattern last year for my daughter's witch costume -- when I saw that you linked to my blog!! Your example is awesome - I love how colorful it is (I was working under strict orders to "only use orange and black, mommy!") Our still gets worn regularly -- isn't feliz a great dress? | | * * * | | dakotasews | 11/4/09 | Colorkitten, my daughter loved the dress I showed her on your blog. Her only requirement was that it twirled. I used the Feliz pattern for Christmas dresses so I had everything traced too which made things easier. I agree it is a great pattern - fairly timeless too, I think. | | * * * | | AnneM | 11/9/09 | What a fun 'witch's outfit', with the colorful outfit. Looks like a great pattern. | | * * * | |
