Pattern Description:
Pattern Description: Skirt and knit tops, size 6-16. The tops have raglan sleeves with a collar that can be contrasting, with a rounded or a V-Neck, with or without sleeves, and with or without bow, for knits with 2-way stretch only.
I made the top view C (the one with the bow)
Pattern Sizing:
I chose to do the smallest size, which 6 and it was definitely TOOOOO BIG. I will talk more about this later...
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
I think it does...
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I did not really used them. It was my first t-shirt out of cotton jersey but I found the construction very logical...
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really did not like the sizing !! My bust is quite small but my measurements were ok with size 6 and the result was not ok... There is also something strange on the sleeve at the underarm but maybe it is because i don't have a serger (I did everything with my very basic brother machine and a double needle) so I might have stretched the fabric.
Usually I don't like CB seam on t-shirt but It was very useful for the fitting since I had quite an issue with this pattern.
The things I liked were the bow detail and the raglan sleeve.
Fabric Used:
I used black cotton jersey from Marche Saint Pierre in Paris (close to Sacre Cœur) and silk taffeta from Sacre Coupons (the same as for my skirt, it was supposed to be an ensemble, see the review of the skirt here). It is nice to see that ou can do the contrasting band in non stretch fabric...
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did have to take away at least 2 or 3 inches at the CB seam because the pattern ended really big on me !! I also did not construct the contrasting band in the same way, I just made the band, zigzag the edges and sewed it to the top...
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Well I think if I wanted to sew it again I would have to re draft the pattern really smaller, take out the CB seam and probably do something about the short short sleeves. Lot of word for just a top... I recommend it but be carreful on the size !
Conclusion:
It was my first T-shirt, because usually I don't find nice fabric and good fitting in patterns so I prefer to buy them (and most of them are cheap to). This one was special because I needed a coordinate for my Gala (prom?) skirt... |
