| Pattern Description:
A child's bathrobe, with pattern for a puppy washing mitt (or pocket) included. (I didn't make the washing mitt.)
Pattern Sizing:
82-152 cm. I made the 98.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Pretty much, yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Pretty much. There is a photo tutorial in German, I used Google translate and had no trouble following along.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This is the only farbenmix pattern I have ever had real trouble with -- the pattern pieces didn't match up well at the shoulders, and getting the sleeves in decently was a real struggle. But my main trouble with this pattern is that is it came up quite short! I'm told bathrobes are worn much shorter in Germany than we are used to here, but I didn't check the length before making it and it was incredibly short. (It was large enough on my daughter that the sleeves were rolled up, but the hem was mid-thigh.)
Fabric Used:
Ikea barnslig towels, an idea I got from one of the design examples. They make a great robe!! The hood lining and sash are Ikea barnslig burp cloths (which, by the way, make amazing kitchen towels).
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None, but I wish I had added about 8" to the length.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
If I ever need to make a kid's bathrobe again, I might give it another shot; but I'd have to redraft the shoulders and alter the length. I would probably not recommend it, it's going to be a lot of work and there are probably plenty of excellent robe patterns out there.
Conclusion:
The final result was adorable, but it ended up never being worn (for various reasons, not just the length). One of my few disappointments. More about it on my blog.
