| Pattern Description:
I made the chemise only.
The chemise, robe and panties are designed for lightweight woven fabrics. The princess line chemise is cut on the bias. It has a front yoke and a flared skirt. The neckline, armholes and the bottom edge are all finished with narrow lace. You can also add the optional lace to cover the front yoke seam. View A, chemise, has the yoke made from lace or sheer.
Pattern Sizing:
XS-XL
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Exactly like it.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very. They were clear and easy to follow, with good use of illustrations. The instructions for applying the lace were good and I was pleased with the results.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the princess lines and bias cut. The skirt section is very full, which suits my pear shape.
Fabric Used:
A mysterious polyester silky woven. This was a challenge from my Australian Sewing Guild group. We were each given 1.25 metres of this fabric and told to make something with it. I saw this pattern in the KS catalogue and the challenge fabric seemed just right for it. I was able to fit this chemise onto the small piece of fabric, with careful layout.
The lace was originally beige, which didn't suit the main fabric very well. I dyed it with tea and am pleased with the result.
Here's a view of the bodice, which shows the printed design on the fabric and the colour of the lace. bodice
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I have a large bust and small shoulders - most of my alterations were related to that. I shortened the shoulder straps, added a tuck in the armhole to remove gaping, and raised the back neckline 3cm. I cut a M through the shoulders, merging to a L at the hips.
The armholes are now a little too high, but I can't fix that now. They did not feel too high in the muslin version, but the lace of the finished version is a bit scratchy so I'd prefer it a bit lower. It's not enough to stop me wearing the chemise.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will definitely sew it again and recommend it highly. This whole lingerie set would be a lovely gift for a bride.
Conclusion:
This is an easy, well-drafted pattern that makes up into a lovely, lovely chemise. The chemise is so flattering and pretty, it's just beautiful. I'm thrilled with it.
