Thanks for a really detailed review on FOE and your method. Your shirts really came out looking very professional. Do you find you get enough elasticity in your sleeve and bottom hems by using two lines of straight stitching? I've used a double needle which is supposed to give you built in stretch, but I still get popped seams. With two rows of straight stitching, the popping may be even worse. I now own a stand alone coverstitch machine to do this type of hemming and get the elasticity I need. I love to sew with interlock knit so it was one of the best investments I could make for my sewing room. I plan to expand the use of knits and try other types.

Hi Judy, I have had popped stitching before using the double needle as well, the single needle has worked better for me with this method of loosening the tension a bit and stretching the fabric as it stitches. So far so good, I would love to have a coverstitch (it's on my someday list), and I do have a serger but I wanted to show that you don't really need special equipment to work with knits.
