|Pattern Description: |
Misses' Dresses in Three Lenghts: Pullover dresses have front elastic casing detail, deep V-neck, flare skirt and stitch hems. In three lengths.
This pattern has size 6-22 on one tissue. I made size 10
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes (except for my changes)
Were the instructions easy to follow?
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This is a simple and feminine dress, I like the elastic detail in the bust.
A poly knit - with more horizontal stretch than vertical. You can't really tell from the picture, but the colours are lovely. I've had this fabric in my stash for ages, and had imagined making a 1970's Charlie's Angels style one piece jump suit with it, but decided that was a bit too crazy and might end up looking like PJs!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I discovered that the arm holes were quite tight and so had to cut them a bit deeper for comfort. A previous reviewer said the sleeves were very small, and so I took a flounce sleeve from Butterick 4132 and used it instead. In hindsight, I wish I had cut 4 and sewed the sleeve pieces right sides together and turned them so that the fabric looked nice from both sides, oh well.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I would sew it again, and I would definitely recommend it to others. It could actually be a nice dress for someone who is "just a little-bit pregnant" as it has a nice fall from the bust.
Good summer casual dress. And only took one day to make.
