Pattern Description: A slightly tricky hat pattern that's worth the fiddly bits.
Pattern Sizing: Narrow brim to wide brim, small woman to large woman - the boofy-haired women I've made this for fit into the largest size with no further adjustments.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions are detailed and very supportive. Fluting the crown and brim pieces can be really tricky, but the instructions tell you everything you need to know.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It works on all fabric weights.
Fabric Used: I've made this using quilting cotton, cotton drill and heavy upholstery velveteen. All turned out great!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I like doing the variation with the bias-edged brim.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? This was my go-to pattern for making birthday presents in 2012. I made six of these during the year, and they were all successful and appreciated.
Conclusion: If you're good at manipulating fabric through your sewing machine and don't mind doing a bit of unpicking for a perfect result, this is the hat pattern for you.
Love it! I'm currently searching for hat patterns so your review is very timely. :)
