Update 5/25/13

I like this pattern so much I feel like I could own 5, one for every day of the work week. You have to believe me that it looks better in person.

The fabric is a medium-weight, 100% cotton jersey that WAS a white floral. I dyed it using Dharma Trading Company Fiber Reactive Dye. The color is Paris Green which was one of the Pantone spring colors. I feel so IN!

Inside-out photos showing elastic inserted between waistline seam allowance.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pattern Description: Knit dress with surplice neckline (with or without collar), straight skirt, capped sleeve or 3/4 with turned up and tabbed option, self-fabric belt with purchased buckle.

Pattern Sizing: U.S. 10-22 or Euro. 36-48. I made size 12 with size 14 at hips since fabric has less stretch than recommended.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy yielding professional-looking results.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Like:
-Nice fit with few pattern adjustments.
-Really flattering, semi-modest neckline and NO GAP. No need to wear a cami or to pin the V closed. I copied Sewil and slightly stretched the neck binding while sewing it to the neckline for a closer-to-the-flat-chest fit.
-No fiddling when wearing. Everything stays in place. I do lots of bending/stooping at work and never had to re-adjust this dress.
-Very easy to make.
-POCKETS!
Dislike:
-Nothing

Fabric Used: 100% cotton (no lycra/spandex),Grape-colored (with faux/printed lacy-looking overlay) medium weight jersey knit. This is not a good description see fabric detail here. from one of the kids' online stores like Sew Baby.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
-Extended sleeve to full length and tapered. It's cold here in the north country.
-.25 inch swayback adjustment.
-Made belt longer to allow tie rather than buckle.
-To apply waistband elastic, I sewed bodice and skirt together, zig-zagged elastic to skirt seam allowance then serged the bodice and skirt seam allowances together for a more finished look.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes. I think this dress would look good on every figure. I usually can't wear a straight skirt but somehow it works here. The surplice neckline nicely frames all face shapes.

Conclusion: I love it! Make one. It's the perfect dress to wear to work and as comfy as jammies.

Also noticed the "change" to sewing and modeling a dress! Looks really classy and professional with a very complimentary fit. You topped that off by creating comfortable work clothing! Good going!

Barb!! That dress turned out awesome and looks terrific on you...Plus what a bonus no gap on the neckline! I have this pattern also and now am excited to make it because of all the great stuff you liked about it. I love your fabric too. I'm sure it is so comfy to wear. How do you measure your elastic for sewing on the SA that way, instead of a tunnel method?

Oh, I love this! How does the dye behave when washing? I have some fabric I dyed using the Dharma dye like you did and I haven't cut into it yet or washed...I guess I am a big chicken!
