Pattern Description: Sundress pattern with bodice, neckline, and trim variations. Also includes clutch purse pattern.
Pattern Sizing: 6-16
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, except for my design changes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the princess seams and the piping. I like that the pattern called for a lapped zipper. I decided to change the Dirndl skirt to a pleated skirt but not because I have anything against the Dirndl
Fabric Used: White silk Shantung with black and grey paisleys and blue and black sequins. Delicious!!!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I used the front and side bodice pieces from Simplicity 2648 because they were already altered to fit my bust. I added piping to the princess seam lines. I added a full lining. I handpicked the lapped zipper. I lowered the front and back necklines by 1.5" and 3" respectively.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I would use this pattern again if needed. I might make it in a more casual version with the gathered skirt. I would also consider the other bodice/neckline variations. Overall, this is a simple pattern for a classic style that when made in an appropriate fabric will not go out of fashion.
Conclusion: I LOVE my new dress!!! If you want to see more photos and read more details about the construction, please visit my blog, Susie Homemaker, MD.
