Pattern Description:
Tailored shirt with contrast collar band, sleeve tab and cuff lining.
Pattern Sizing:
Jalie sizes are alphabetical, mine is a size "S".
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Mostly, although the plaid contrast changes it slightly.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they are excellent.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Its great. Having made this four times there is not much more to say, except that for me it is an all round winner!
Fabric Used:
"Birch Tan" cotton elastane with matching buttons from Tessuti, the contrast is a stretch cotton plaid from The Fabric Store.
Pattern alterations & construction notes:
As before - the only changes this time were to reduce the hip curve a bit more for a closer fit and to draft the contrast button band/CF facing. The CF contrast is on the underside of the right bodice and top side of the left bodice (so it is only visible in glimpses when buttoned). Contrast was also used on the underside of pocket flap, under collar and inside collar stand, inside cuffs and upper sleeve tie.
Front with cuffs turned up, showing contrast details
Top view with close up of collar and beautiful Tessuti buttons
Contrast sleeve tab
Plaid contrast on under collar & pocket flap
Waist shaping from vertical darts
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Most definitely, this is now a TnT.
Conclusion:
This Marc Jacob's shirt is a favourite, so making another in Autumn colours as part of the Falling for Autumn SWAP 2013 Collection was an easy choice. Orange and plaid are also very trendy at the moment, so another win. |

Absolutely impeccable. Your level of sewing is something I aspire to. The contrast makes these so special. They remind me of my husband's Robert Graham shirts.
