Pattern Description:

The postcard was sewn and assembled as part of a program sponsored by a local Bernina dealer.

The promotion was called a "Sewmance" as in "Sewing Romance" or "Sewing (Machine?) Romance" which I attended on Valentine's Day.

Pattern Sizing:

The finished postcard is just a shade under 4" x 6" (by shade I mean about 1/8" on each the length and width dimension).

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes. Bernina had a similar postcard at their website done in soft pastels and which used 5 strips of fabric instead of 4. But the similarities were there.

Were the instructions easy to follow?

Yes. The two ladies at the workshop had 4 machines set up and we moved from machine to machine following instructions which they had printed out for each station. We also went to the ironing stations to adhere the self-adhesive heart and backing at the right time.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

Well, I was amazed that this card can actually be mailed. I thought it was a very clever way to create a one of a kind postcard.

You could create a card for any holiday/celebration.

Fabric Used:

four kinds of quilting cotton
a red iron-patch heart
a piece of Timtex for the innards
an embroidered backing which was also on an iron type material

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

None! We chose our fabrics and whatever decorative stitches we wanted to use for topstitching. The only 2 decorative stitches we were instructed to use were the zigzag around the outer perimeter and the blanket stitch around the heart.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

Yes and yes.

Conclusion:

I think this would be a very cool thing to send to someone out of quilting fabric, especially if they were going to receive a quilt out of some of the same fabric for an upcoming event, say a birthday.

The postcards are so attractive and I think they would make great bookmarks as well as something you might want to keep as a memento in a scrapbook.

I won't be mailing mine so I didn't check on how much postage it would take but I would definitely keep this in mind for a craft project in the future.
