Pattern Description:
I used this pattern to knock off the Kate Spade "Rainey" dress.
Pattern Sizing:
I cut a size 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
The shape of the dress looks like the photo but I modified it to look like the Kate Spade dress. I did three cut outs on the front and two on the back. To make the cut outs, I shaped 1/4" double fold bias tape into teardrop shapes and sewed it down onto the bodice. Then I cut out the fabric from the inside. I also bound the neck and armholes in the bias binding.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were very easy to follow.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love that this pattern provided me the style of dress I needed to knock off the Kate Spade dress.
Fabric Used:
I used Shantung Sateen from fabric.com in the color Pride. It is a lighter yellow than than the original Kate Spade dress.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The pattern only calls for the bodice to be lined, but I lined the entire dress in black polyester lining like the Kate Spade dress. Also, the Kate Spade dress has more cut outs than I did on my version.
Lining

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Actually I do plan to sew this dress again. I want to make the Kate Spade print "Rainey" dress. I just have to find the appropriate fabric.
Conclusion:
I have long loved the Kate Spade "Rainey" dress. I am so excited that I finally took the time to knock it off. The RTW Contest was a great motivator to do so.
