This was such a fun project! My original inspiration was the folk costumes from "The Sound of Music", which prompted me to look up Austrian dirndls and found one that became my RTW inspiration for this outfit.
Pattern Description:
For the Jumper I used a nordic style Olde Country Costumes pattern.
Pattern review does not have this company as an option so I had to put self-drafted as the pattern company.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
These patterns are notorious for their confusing instructions, that said I've never had to much trouble understanding then, but I tend to not follow them to the letter
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
My whole Scandinavian folk dancing group has bunads from this pattern, since it has built in spots where you can alter it easily. That is great for when the garment is worn by a different girl every year but I don't need all those wide seam allowances and extra room so I just trim it off.
Fabric Used:
cotton homespun, and underlined with cotton broadcloth. Blouse and apron are made out of cotton broadcloth.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I altered the bodice neckline and front opening so as it would look more like my inspiration Austrian folk dress instead of the Norwegian folk dress it is supposed to be.
Conclusion:
I made to go with it a blouse from a pattern I drafted off a vintage Bavarian blouse that ends in the traditional way right below the bust, . And a apron with a shirred top.
I love this outfit and have worn it a dozen times already, and every time I feel as if I had stepped out of the sound of music
