Pattern Description:
Knit knee-length dress with fron surplice (mock wrap) neckline, but on sleeves and an easily customizable midriff section. The skirt features in-seam pockets and fall in the soft folds of a half-circle skirt. The pattern includes optional stripes placement guide, cup sizing A-D and bust alteration line.
I used this pattern to create a knock-off of this RTW dress from Garnet Hill: RTW dress I copied
To make this look, I used the Tiramisu bodice, the Sew U Home Stretch a-line skirt, and a self-drafted addition to the midriff.
Pattern Sizing:
30"-50" High bust, 25"-50" waist, cup sizing A-D
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were easy to follow and there are also good resources on Cake's website.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The pattern was just about perfect in terms of instructions and the design is super cute. I really like that there are good directions on achieving the right fit. The only thing I don't like about the pattern is the sizing - I used the guidelines on my muslin and it was way too big (I cut a 35A). For my second shot at this pattern I cut a 30D, which was better but too big in the bust. I think a 30B would probably be perfect, but I wish I'd gotten there earlier. I think the midriff section might also be generally a bit long - I had to trim an inch off when I made this for myself and when I made it for a taller friend.
Fabric Used:
I used a poly/acetate/lyra medium-weight jersey that I purchased from GorgeousFabrics.com. The fabric has 50% crosswise stretch and it felt just about perfect for this pattern.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

Conclusion:
I think this is a great pattern, but take a look at the guidance on sizing on Cake's blog/website before you cut.
