Pattern Description: High waist dress with side zipper, neck bands, and back ties.
Pattern Sizing: 10-22, I made the 10 view E
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, but I changed it greatly.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes nothing out of the ordinary. I made so many changes, I made up my own instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It was a similar shape to the dress I wanted to knockoff.
Fabric Used:Ponte Roma Knit, 60% Rayon 40% Poly
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Many! I lengthened the front bodice and eliminated the separate midriff piece. I also eliminated the underbust gathers to more closely resemble my RTW dress from Isabella and Oliver. I eliminated the zipper since my fabric was a knit. I also used a smaller size since I was using a stretch fabric. I narrowed the shaped placket facing. I added a center front seam to the skirt and added a walking slit. I lengthened the side ties to go all the way around me. I used Simplicity 2766 (view B ) for the sleeves. They were altered slightly- I made the cuff longer and the sleeve conversely shorter. I added a fake placket to the sleeve with a covered button. If you think visually like me see my polyvore set which shows my sewing plan with the changes I made.Polyvore Set
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes and yes. I think it might be OOP but its a lovely basic.
Conclusion: I wish I were as thin as the model in my dress! Anywho- it looks good and I am very happy with my finished result. If I made another one I would make the skirt a bit fuller to be closer to the original dress. Might make it in navy for spring like the one on the Isabella Oliver website
