Pattern Description: Designed with Love by Sara from the Simplicity range. Fitted bodice with optional halter straps and a choice of 3 different skirts. I made view C
Pattern Sizing:P5 (US size 12-20) I made size 12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Definitely yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? There was nothing I disliked.
Fabric Used: I used red taffeta and as the lining shows on the skirt I used black crepe back satin for the lining
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Its a few weeks since I made this dress so I cant recall at what point during construction that instructions tell you how to insert the elastic into the sleeves, and at which point to put the pleats in the sleeves, but I put the pleats into the sleeve before inserting the elastic so it made the pleats easier to do. Also the elastic length they suggested made the sleeves far too loose for me so I shortened it. I also piped the waist seam in black to match the skirt lining that shows. This seam doesn't lay as flat as I'd like it to, but I found the piping a bit tricky on the front "V" so that's entirely down to me and I wasn't prepared to unpick it! I also didn't use any boning. I didnt see the need and it works for me.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Definitely recommend this to to others, Its fairly easy to put together and the finished item is lovely. I would sew this again for sure if the occasion arose or for someone else.
I've made this dress for a formal evening, but this pattern can easily be used for bridesmaid dresses and even a wedding dress.
