Hi and welcome to Pattern Review. It is very difficult for people to give you any advice when we can't see how the garment turned out (no photo), we don't know the size of the person you were sewing for either. However I can see from the line drawings of the pattern that there are no shaping darts at all and I suspect that is because it was designed for a shapeless young girl, before she develops a bust. Also sometimes the dresses are designed with too much ease, that means the designers or pattern makes expect it to be bigger, sometimes by many inches than the person wearing it. Perhaps that happened here. It really is disappointing when you are a beginner and this happens to your creations, but don't give up. Measure carefully the person you are making for, measure the pattern pieces and see if you need to adjust anything before you cut out your fabric. Think of the pattern pieces as a suggestion which you can follow exactly or change as you please. Then try again, with this easy pattern even, and see how it turns out. You always update this review with a photo and perhaps more people will offer suggestions. Good luck and don't give up.

Thank you for the welcome and for taking the time to offer such good, thorough advice! That makes sense. I'll give it another go with that in mind. Thanks for the encouragement!
