I like the idea of Velcro as a closure. I have had duvet covers with plastic poppers melt in the machine - I ended up replacing them with buttons and making buttonholes.

I've made lots of duvets for my kids, and you did just right. I have used velcro, buttons and even shoestrings (two buttonholes with shoestring tying them together). Making duvets is so much cheaper than buying them for 100 dollars plus!!!
