It is amazing how much fabric one of these takes and also the amount of time as I have done this before..

It's me again... ahh you could have had enough fabric for your box pleat if you pieced fabric (lining) where the pleats were going to be, they would have been hidden inside the pleat and even if they showed it would have been a cute look. The other thing I do is line the whole thing right sides together then iron/press up the lining to the inside and treat as one, you won't need to hem it, hem is finished off. This is a good idea. I know what you mean about the original sides of these things. seriously, don't they think you will wash them?
