|Pattern Description: This is a pattern for full-length yoga and capri length workout pants in a 4-stretch fabric. Crotch gusset and yoked variations of elastic waist. I made the full-length yoga pant. |
Pattern Sizing:XS to XL. I made M/L at the waist, grading to M at the hips.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, although not as tight fitting as I thought. (The capri uses different pattern pieces and might be more tight.)
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, except for the gusset. These are best done with a serger, using a wooly nylon thread. (Wooly nylon has a lot of stretch and is used in serging athletic and swimwear). Next time I'll attach the gusset to the back pieces first before the front--I found the piveting awkward, especially on a serger. If you're looking to use your serger, this might be a good beginner project.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is very simple and allows you to customize fit and fabric. Workout clothes are very expensive and you can get a high quality item for easily half or quarter of the cost of RTW. The pattern has some yoke variations--my view had a two piece yoke, but you can simplify this and just draft a single-piece yoke. The picture shows a closeup of the double yoke.
Fabric Used: I have had this performance fleece in my stash for 10 years or more. I'm participating in the fabric stash contest and this is deep in the stash, so am knocking this off early! I ordered it on sale, on line from Malden Mills. It's very light, fuzzy on the inside and comfortable for this garment. This is going to be my lounging yoga pant. Because I ordered lots (5 yds), I made a Renfrew top to go with.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: No, except for the waist grading. I used a stretch blind hem stitch for the hems.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely. I'm going to sew all my workout clothes now.
Conclusion: This is an easy yoga pant, capri pant combo.
