|We are currently looking after the Grand Dog while DD travels and works overseas. |
The GD (Bonnie) arrived with a dog hoodie - try putting that on an Aussie Bulldog!!! (An Aussie bulldog is similar in shape to the British Bull dog, a little taller, but one great muscle of a dog -we're used to toy Poodles, H-E-L-P) A new coat was an essential ... for my sanity, anyway.
I found some plaid upholstery fabric in the stash, and I had a small piece of wool gabardine leftover from my winter pants for the lining. There was just enough of both fabrics to make the dog coat.
I had no pattern, so simply laid the hoodie on the floor and traced the basic shape. A neck shaping was roughed out, and extended from the main body - a straight strip would be used for the belly strap.
The upper and lining were stitched together and bagged out, the belly strap attached, an flat buttons were used at the neck closing on the belly strap. The coat was stitched with a universal 90/16 needle.
At least now there is no more struggling with the hoodie, and one happy girl.
