|I plan to have an owl theme classroom this fall and I wanted to make a few things this summer. I tend to keep a lot of quick games along with office supplies on my desk, so I'm thinking that is what I will put in the fabric bowls. |
Pattern Description: This is a pattern for fabric nesting bowls ranging in size from 4 inches to 9 inches. She includes the dimensions for using a focus fabric too. There are also additional directions for adding different handles, interior pockets, and a formula for making your own custom size fabric bowls.
Pattern Sizing: Finished bowls range in size from 4 inches to 9 inches. Directions also included to make your own custom size fabric bowl. Here is a picture showing the 4, 5, and 9 inch bowls with everyday objects Click Here for Size Comparisons.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, very much so.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very suited to a beginner.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love all the options. There is also a flickr group set up for more inspiration a Cuppa and a Catch Up Flickr group. I think this is a great way to use up scraps and also to feature just a small amount of a material.
Fabric Used: I used a kona brown (coffee) and an owl print (Ann Kelle Zoologie) that I've had for a while for the outer and a cotton home dec material that I've had forever (and bought a lot of) for the inside of the bowl. I quilted the outer using warm and natural scraps and I also added medium weight interfacing to the interior material.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None, really.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I have sewn this before and I will probably sew these again.
Conclusion: This is a cute, useful pattern. I imagine I'll use it again. I'm already planning to have my daughters use it for next year's 4-H projects.
Other fabric bowl I've made using this pattern:
Mermaid fabric bowl.
