Pattern Description: This pattern is identical to S 2429 except that it includes long pants. Child's dress, top, shorts, and pants.
Pattern Sizing: 3-8. I made size 8 but graded up to a 10.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? yes, except where I modified them by adding a lining and got myself into trouble when I went to add the zipper. The results look fine on the outside but one side has the lining covering the zipper but the other does not. Nobody will know but me. I lined this dress in bright yellow (same as tie) because I thought the quilting cotton was too lightweight to carry the wrap front and also because I thought the front would not hang correctly. I should have added the zipper before I stitched the lining to the top and bottom at the waist so that I could have kept the lining separate, but the results look fine. In fact, everything went OK until I tried to do too much late at night and sewed the top to the bottom with the lining facing out and had to employ my seam ripper.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It is really cute but I would probably only line the top and skirt front if I made this again.
Fabric Used: Quilting cotton
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Lining
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Probably not. DGD is now into a size 10 and I am trying to make up all my size 8 patterns which match her measurements.
Conclusion: I thought the dress turned out cute and like the bright colors. This is a stash contest entry made with fabric that is probably about 5 years old.
