Pattern Description: A free pattern for a quick and easy tank top for girls. This is a great project for practicing several techniques on your serger and sewing machine a) Lettuce Edging (serger) b) Shirring (sewing machine).
Pattern Sizing: 2T - 10. I made size 10. Would be easy to grade up.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Not sure. DGD has not had an opportunity to try it on yet. If not, I'll take it in under the arms.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy. After all the years I've been sewing, I had never used elastic thread to shir fabric. Was very surprised how easy it was. I had trouble getting my serger to do a rolled hem so mine was very tight and narrow. Took it in and found that the ankle on my serger was very loose. Sample came out wider and looked more like picture. However, no big deal. Still looked nice.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked that it was so easy.
Fabric Used: A medium weight cotton knit that keeps reappearing in my stash no matter how much I sew with it. I think this will finish it off, though.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I also made a gathered-waist straight skirt out of the same fabric and did a lettuce edge on it as well. Picture is in my review number 2013-8.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Not sure. Will depend on how it is received by DGD. Hard to predict what she will like. I would recommend it.
Conclusion: A very quick, easy top that, paired with a simple skirt, makes a really cute outfit.
