Strapless summer or party dress has a flattering shape which tapers at the waist, and gathered waist ties in a contrasting fabric. This dress is fully lined and has a gathered six-gore skirt with the front panel of the skirt left ungathered for a smooth line. Dress includes side seam pockets and optional boning. Closes with an invisible side zipper. Pattern Sizing:
0=18 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Very much so Were the instructions easy to follow?
Definitely! What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the way the dress gathers and the way the sash is part of the dress instead of an amendment. I disliked the side zipper opening and how it does not fully open, making it very difficult to get on and off without help, so I changed it. Fabric Used:
Kelly green leaf print cotton damask Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Graded the size up, only lined the bodice as my cotton damask is heavy. I made a full side zipper with a hook and eye closure above the invisible zipper. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Only if I were to add straps or sleeves as I'm not a fan of strapless dresses and I don't need many of them. However, I enjoyed wearing this one and it's perfect for summer. Conclusion:
This is a fabulous dress and I get many compliments when I wear it. I added boning to the bodice in which I think it very much needs for support and to stay up. It needs a full side zip (or a back zip if you choose) and I would recommend making the pockets out of your fashion fabric and not your lining fabric.
