Several years ago and girlfriend and I sewed a baby quilt for her nephew's baby daughter. We used the "Snowball" block and lots of bright fabrics. While we were sewing, I used the triangles that were cut from the corners of the snowball blocks to sew small squares of 2 triangles each. I even managed to have enough time to sew all the small triangles together in a 10 x 10 grid... and that's as far as I got.
While hunting through my UFO's for the competition, I found the pieced square and decided to use it to sew a small throw pillow.
I had some of the turquoise and purple stripe left, so I used it for the borders. There wasn't enough of that fabric for the back but I had some other fabric in the same colors so I combined the 2 fabrics for the pillow back, with a lapped closure.
