|Pattern Description: |
Misses' A-line sundress in two lengths, is high waisted with close-fitting bodice and elasticized neckline, has a back zipper closure, a front buttoned and princess seamed skirt with side pockets, optional shoulder straps and ruffle tiers.
I made dress C, with the upper and lower edges altered.
(6-8-10), (12-14-16), (18-20-22)
I sewed size 12, with side seams being 14 from hips to hemline for more flare.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, they somewhat look like the drawing. My dresses have permanent shoulder straps. They also have the lower ruffle removed for a shorter dress.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they were very detailed.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the elasticized neckline, the slightly flared skirt with a front buttton band and the hem ruffles.
Dress #1: Poplin Cotton Polyester.
Dress #2: Cotton.
Dress #3: Poplin Cotton Polyester.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
For all dresses, I omitted the lower ruffle, the side pockets and the buttonholes. Buttons were sewn to the skirt over the band.
I shortened the upper ruffle by 2 1/2".
To help the elastic neckline to stay in place, shoulder straps and crossing back straps were added to the upper edge of the dresses.
Dress #1 has wider buttons.
Dress #2 has a higher front neck.
Dress #3 has strap trimming at front neck.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I do not plan to sew more of it, as I have already made three. I would recommend this pattern to anyone who likes the style of the dress. Other looks can be created using this pattern.
Not complicated project, easily made sundress.
