|Pattern Description: |
A knit dress with surplice neckline, a line skirt.
Multi-sized 30"-50" high bust. Select size by high bust and bra cup size. There are directions on how to customize fit to your measurements.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, except for a couple minor modifications.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I thought so. I have never used a pattern with this type of sizing before, but the instructions were clear enough that I understood what to do.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I think it is a flattering style for a variety of figures and it makes a great summer dress that can be casual or dressy depending on fabric choice. I needed a knit summer dress for a trip I took and this was perfect. Like with most surplice bodices, it is a bit low cut for some occasions: I wear a tank top with it.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I lengthened the sleeves slightly, so they would be more flattering. I also changed the skirt grain line: I changed it to the center of each panel which worked better with the print on my fabric. I sketched it out ahead of time and determined this would be the most flattering. But for a regular stripe, the original grain line would work best.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would like to sew it again, in a solid color perhaps with a contrast trim. I have also thought about adding a longer, kimono-type sleeve. I do recommend this pattern--for a quick to sew, easy to wear, and figure flattering dress.
This was my first Cake Pattern and I am very pleased and will be trying more patterns in this line. It really is a pattern for the perfect summer dress.
